There have been Spring seasons when the most exciting fashion news was that: Gasp! Florals are back! This is not that kind of Spring, people.  Pointy toed flats, 70’s vibes, gladiator sandals…it’s a bright new day and I am all about it.  While floral prints and white jeans will always say “Hey, you guys! It’s April!” there are countless fresh ways to look cool this season.  Read on for the 3 items that I’m currently crushing on.

  1. Lace Up Flats

Specifically, these Aquazzura flats.  Nearly sold out everywhere because of their extreme dopeness, there are still a few pairs available here and here.  Because I am currently trying to adhere to a shopping budget (the success/failure of which will be the topic for a later article) I opted for these just as awesome flats from the much anticipated collaboration from Misha Nonoo and Aldo Rise.  Misha Nonoo launched her first collection in 2011 and has steadily gained a celebrity following.  Her clothes are classic and timeless but with enough of an edge to keep things interesting.  I was thrilled when she launched this affordable collection with Aldo and as is evidenced here, here and here, these flats have quickly become a favorite.  Other lace up options are these turquoise pretties from Anthropologie and these Rock and Republics at a price that pretty much demands that you buy two.

  1. Knee High Gladiator Sandals

Gladiators are certainly not new on the scene but right now there are some especially fabulous offerings.  Most definitely the It shoe of the season are these Chloe sandals with a perfect little wedge.  Seriously, these sandals are so rad my eyes are blurring with tears just writing this. Both the tall and shorter versions are equally gorgeous and by the end of Summer you will have seen these on every fashion blogger in the land.  I prefer a flat sole for a knee high gladiator to avoid going too “lady of the night” with it.  Fortunately for me and my newly imposed shoe budget, there are lots of less pricey options on the market.  Stuart Weitzman makes this edgy version that would look great with some denim cut offs and a tee shirt and I’m about to scoop up these by Free People.  Hello extra 20% off.

  1. The Button Front Denim Skirt

The current skirt of all skirts.  If you buy one skirt this Spring/Summer, let it be this one.  With its retro, cool girl vibe it meets every requirement for the Perfect Skirt Award.  Unfortunately, I waited too long and missed the skirt that Alexa Chung designed for her collaboration with AG.  Alas, it’s now sold out everywhere.  I did score this Rag & Bone number from The Outnet at a steal instead and absolutely love, love, love it.  I’m not such a fan of the maxi versions– reads a little too Duggar family for my taste.  I’m seriously digging these Topshop minis here and here.  Because I’m also currently obsessed with overalls, I may pick up this 7 For All Mankind overall skirt.  I call that a major twofer.  Cheating on your shopping budget already, you ask?  Don’t judge me.
