I heart fall so much.  It is truly my favorite season.  As you might have guessed, it has little to do with leaves that change color. I live in L.A. and the leaves are pretty much the same color all year.  It’s the clothes.  And the shopping for those clothes.  Fall is the opportunity to reinvent our wardrobes.  We get to purchase new items we’ve been coveting since we saw them on the runways last February and we get to flex our creative muscles by figuring out creative ways to make our summer dresses and skirts cool weather appropriate.  Bring on the ankle boots!  And the mid-calf boots.  And the knee high boots.  And don’t forget those over the knee beauties that have been so sad all tucked away under the bed.  I love summer as well but I find by late July I’m ready for chunky knits and beanies.  So let me warn you now that this will not be the only fall fashion article you’ll get from me this season, kids.  Not by a long shot.  This is your Fall Preview; just a little teaser to get you in the mood.  Read on for a few of my favorite things that will be happening come September.

  1. Skinny Scarves

I’ll be honest- despite my love for the 70’s vibe (which is holding strong this Fall, BTW, in case you were concerned that you invested in all those flares for only a couple of seasons), I was not initially on board with these slender scarves.  However, I’ve seen them styled in so many rad ways that I’ve come around.  I now find them the perfect completer piece- add it to an outfit and it appears more thought out without looking like you’re trying too hard.  This accessory was seen on the runways on Marc by Marc Jacobs, Gucci and Chloe.  Click here and allow J Crew to show you more ways to style them.

  1. Car Wash Pleats

Car wash pleats are this season’s fringe.  A bit more sophisticated and chic, these skirts can be easily worn to the office without raising HR’s judgmental eyebrows.  In addition to Dior, J Crew and Oscar de la Renta, Tommy Hilfiger, Thakoon and Wes Gordon all included the silhouette in their Fall collections.

  1. Mini Skirts

A-line minis, to be exact.  We’re revisiting the 80’s with these skirts and their cool girl mod vibe.  Louis Vuitton, Dior, Emilio Pucci and Carven all had models in these skirts strutting down runways last Spring.  Pair them with a chunky platform sandal or with a knee high boot.  Equally as dope with a boot of any height, actually.  When the weather gets chilly, wear them with some cool graphic tights.

That’s all for now!  Just a taste to wet your sartorial beaks.  There’s so much more awesomeness to write about this season so stay tuned.  Hurry up, September.
